Two great Artists joined their talents to create together a unique performance. T. “For Tibet with Love” EVENT in our Museum of Contemporary Tibetan Art.
Museum Directors were pleased to be invited in a networking event organized by the Municipality of Emmen, consisting of business people, scientists, artists and students. The aim was to keep us aware of the development and expansion of various activities of the province, for the benefit of all inhabitants and the promotion of Touristic attractions in the area.
Schedules visits to the Sheepfold, Van Gogh House, Van Gogh Huis Nieuw – Amsterdam, Snikke, Smalspoormuseum, Griendtsveenpark.
We are proud that Van Gogh had spent 2 months in our region 20 kilometers away from our Museum. It seems that this area is so much inspired for Artists. Van Gogh’s inspirations to become an artist started here, after his art school in Brussels . Then he painted only for 7 years and passed away. During that period he made more than 900 paintings, numberless drawings and writings, to pass away at the age of 37 in Southern France.
22nd March WORLD WATER DAY and our Musuem celebrades by sending a message with Tashi Norbu’s Artwork ‘Water Element” ; thinking of the Stupa Zankskar and the 3rd pole of the Tibetan Plateau.
Tashi Norbu’s Buddha, is sitting peacefully among flowing waters and splashes of an ocean; implying to the Water Element, the extremely dynamic, the most powerful of the elements which creates and fosters life on Earth. In the Book of Genesis we read that God said, "Let the waters swarm with fish and other life”, while the Thales of Miletus in Greece, twenty eight eons ago, took the stance that the world derives from water and rests on water. And here, the Tibetan Artist with his Piece of Art, would also suggest the importance of water in his country, as the renewed importance of Tibet for China lies in its water riches. China has long been eyeing the water reserves of Tibet, the largest repository of freshwater after the two poles, Arctic and Antarctic, thus claiming, the “third pole (Text by Leela Skitsa)

Last year Tashi Norbu at “Emmen goes Eco” created the "Urban Buddha" Sculpture made out of waste wood and various waste materials, together with the great assistance of the local Artist Karin Siebring. Tashi’s Statue found his own spot in Rensenpark and remained there with its message, for 6 months. Sending to the world a message about our responsibility as humans, to respect, protect, and preserve the natural world from its anthropogenic, -caused by humans- afflictions.
Tashi Norbu’s Urban Buddha of the project “Emmen goes Eco” of last year, is now situated in the Museum dominating in front of Artist’s Mandalas. Made out of waste wood, is still sending messages to the world about environmental concerns.
