Newsletter October 2017

Since the opening of the Museum on 1st June, we have recorded more than 10.000 visitors. Until recently,  we gave various tutorials on how to paint a Meditative Buddha or a Mandala.  Participants were happy to attend and paint for themselves beautiful Buddhas and Tibetan Mandalas.

On the 23rd September 2017 brothers and sisters, friends and art lovers all participated at the Museum of Contemporary Tibetan Art in Emmen, Holland celebrating as well as challenging the contributions of Contemporary Tibetan Art in the West.  This is Tashi Norbu’s, Marjanne Tholen and Team direction towards the mission to carry aspirations, hopes and reflections for the human being the environmental awareness and the importance of  Art in the Humanity

The Alderman of the City Council opened the Museum doors and guest speakers were invited such as Tsering Jampa La, the Director of (ICT Europe)  International Campaign for Tibet , whom Tashi has been cooperating with, long-term since in the Netherlands.  Also, all the ICT Staff members were present. The great singer Namgyal Lhamo la, entitled as The Nightingale of Tibet sung for us and inaugurated the Live painting performance of Tashi Norbu on a 5/2-meter long painting,  through her auspicious Classical Tibetan Songs.  During the 45 min. Tashi’s live painting,  the Harpist Diane de Vries accompanied the event too, thus creating a bridge between the Eastern and Western culture.

Until now Tashi Norbu and Team of the Museum of Contemporary Tibetan Art participated in various events and Festivals in Emmen, Amsterdam and most recently at the Festival of the Relay of life: Zweelo.   Tashi and Marjanne had the great idea to give workshops on a team of 13 people, of how to create a Healing Mandala.  Participants were happy to go back home with their own Mandala created by them on that day.  The participants for the workshops were from the Cancer Hospital Scheper Ziekenhuis, Netherlands. Researches prove that Art therapy improves depression and influences fatigue levels in cancer patients on chemotherapy.

Tashi Norbu and Team are now making plans for creating another Tibet Festival in Holland with Tibetan Organizations which are based in The Netherlands.

We soon expect some people from BBC to visit this weekend in our Museum for a documentary film. We shall give detailed explanation of the Museum displays and Artworks,  and we shall have discussions on Tibetan Art and Culture  presenting  the Artworks of  Tibetan Artists: Tashi Norbu, Gonkar Gyatso, Tenzing Rigdol, Tulku Jamyang, Rabkar Wangchuk, Passa Tobgay,  Sonam Dolma, Tashi Wangchuk, Ngawang Jordan, Tenzin Ngawang, Tashi Wangchuk, Lharigtso, Tenzin Seldon, Tenzin Phuntsok.
